We are seeking a Family Lawyer with 5 or more years of experience to join our reputable family law practice. The ideal candidate will have Trial experience and have exceptional drafting, research, and writing skills. The candidate must be able to attend court in the GTA by their own means.
Responsibilities
- Attend court hearings and trials, and prepare for the same, for family law matters.
- Conduct legal research and draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and discovery requests, related to family law matters, such as divorce, child custody, child support, spousal support, and property division.
- Negotiate with opposing counsel and draft settlement agreements for clients.
- Represent clients in mediation and arbitration for family law matters.
- Prepare for and attend depositions and other discovery-related proceedings for clients.
- Manage billing and time entry for clients.
- Maintain client relationships with high level of confidentiality.
Requirements
- J.D. or equivalent education with admission to bar.
- 5+ years of experience in family law
- Trial Experience
- Exceptional drafting, research, and writing skills, with the ability to draft legal documents for family law matters.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously, while maintaining the highest level of professionalism and client service.
- Strong work ethic and commitment to client service, with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
- Familiarity with family law software, such as Divorcemate and Caselines, with the ability to manage files.
- Knowledge of Laws of Ontario, including the Family Law Act, the Children's Law Reform Act, and the Divorce Act.
